Zack Martin concussion injury
Everything you need to know about Zack Martin concussion injury

Dr Matt Provencher here. So for those of us enjoying the Monday night game with the Cowboys playing Zack Martin just went down with on a play where he looks to be a little bit shaken up from the video, although I can't be for sure certain it looks though Ezekiel Elliott was running a play, Zack was doing a great job with his block and had some inadvertent contact on this play from either Ezekiel Elliott or another player to the back of Zac's head or his shoulder area. We'll camp is for certain. The concern on this is either a concussion or possibly a stinger. Both of these require careful evaluation and are highly scripted by the NFL to make sure that this is in the highest safety parameter for all players involved. If this is a concussion for Zack, he has to undergo mandatory concussion testing and clearance by an unaffiliated NFL neurologic specialist. Once that, once Zack is cleared, he is then able to start a progressive return to play through very scripted stages, and once he's through that, he's allowed to return to full football. Usually, a concussion takes anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks, depending on the severity. From what I can see, although we will have to wait for additional confirmation from the Cowboys organization if it's a concussion or maybe even a less severe version, which would be a stinger. We should certainly see Zack back here on the field, hopefully very soon in the next 1 to 2 weeks once he's cleared the protocol. And I should also note that Zack has been incredible guard for the Cowboys and in fact, is the highest played guard in the entire league. So, Zack, we wish you luck on your recovery and look forward to seeing you back on the field real soon. Download the all new Fox Sports App now.
